The End of a Diplomatic Career

Landín’s time in San Salvador was brief: by late May, his superiors reprimanded him and stripped him of his post for challenging Obregón’s new revolutionary government. Apparently he was quite outspoken, although there is no extant record of what he said.

From an apartment in Mexico City, Landín sent the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores an account of his achievements in Columbus to place his recollections of his achievements in his personnel file.

We have access to his admittedly incomplete story because the agents in the Mexican Consular Service indeed filed his narrative.

Still the archive preserves Landín’s voice in part.
