History's Power

 Discord. Conflict. Misinformation. Demonization. Othering.

Not until we recognize that our stories are shared, our narratives of the past make us stronger *across* the lines that divide us, our histories unite us. Borders are constructed, artificial. They don't have to divide--they can unite. Our stories, when we genuinely and honestly listen to each other, break them down.

If we can't recognize our shared humanity, we won't be able to attain justice, peace, equality.

History teaches us these lessons. It doesn't repeat itself, although it sometimes rhymes.

Our present and future depend on our willingness to honestly engage with our past.
